Pursuant to D.Lgs (Italian Legislative Decree) no. 33 of 14 March 2013, transparency is defined as the “total accessibility of data and documents conserved by public entities, with the aim of protecting the rights of citizens, encouraging the participation of interested parties in administrative activities and promoting widespread forms of control on the activities of institutional functions and the use of public resources”.
Additionally, as per article 4, paragraph 2, every public entity must publish information on its payments in a “Transparent administration” section on its corporate website, providing details on the types of expenditure it has borne and the relative timeframes and beneficiaries.
