A journey spanning 250 years through historical records, dedicated to the history of the Guardia di Finanza in Novara, highlighting tradition and future, protection, and the permeability of borders.

The exhibition retraces the history of the Guardia di Finanza in the Province of Novara, from border protection to wartime service, through records from various archival collections. By booking a guided tour in the rooms where these collections are held, visitors will discover how documents are preserved to ensure their transmission to future generations.

Students from the “F. Casorati” Artistic, Music, and Dance High School in Novara have contributed drawings of the Guardia di Finanza uniforms worn throughout history.

The inventories related to the documents on display have been digitised and are available online.

The event is organised in collaboration with the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza in Novara.

A Journey through 250 Years of Documents Dedicated to the Guardia di Finanza in Novara: Tradition and Future, Defence and Border Permeability

Description: The exhibition traces the history of the Guardia di Finanza in the Province of Novara, from border protection to wartime service, featuring archival collections from the Civil Engineering Department, the Prefecture of Novara, the Prefecture of Agogna, and the Municipality of Novara. Enriched with engravings and photographs sourced from private donations, the exhibition offers a rare view of history through a variety of materials.

The guided tour leads visitors through the rooms where these archival collections are preserved, demonstrating the techniques used to maintain these documents for future generations. Students from the “F. Casorati” Artistic, Music, and Dance High School in Novara have contributed illustrations of Guardia di Finanza uniforms throughout the years, adding visual context to the historical journey.

Many of the inventories for the documents on display have been digitised and are available online for visitors. The collection covers documents dating from 1804 to the 1970s.

This event is organised in collaboration with the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza in Novara.
